Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Pieces Play Lab for?

Pieces Play Lab primarily serves children ages 2–9, with programs designed to meet a range of developmental needs and skill levels. We also offer early intervention classes for younger children and plan to expand programming for older age groups.
Does my child need an autism diagnosis to participate?
No. Our private pay enrichment groups are open to all children, and a diagnosis is not required.
However, insurance-based ABA services and social groups do require an autism diagnosis, as this is determined by insurance providers.
What types of programs do you offer?
We offer a range of services, including:
  • Insurance-based ABA therapy (in-home and center-based hybrid)
  • Insurance-covered social skills groups
  • Private pay social and enrichment groups
  • Early intervention classes (caregiver-child programs)
What does a typical session look like?
Sessions are structured to be both engaging and purposeful. A typical group may include:
  • Circle time or group introduction
  • Structured activities or games
  • Peer interaction and collaborative play
  • Movement and play on gym equipment
What is the group size?
We maintain small group sizes of 4 to 5 students to ensure each child receives individualized support while still benefiting from peer interaction. 1:1 are available for insurance pay clients based on need and staffing availability
Do parents stay during sessions?
Most sessions are drop-off, allowing children to build independence and engage with peers.
Parents may be required to stay if:
  • A child has significant behavioral or medical needs
  • Siblings are remaining in the gym during the session
What if my child needs 1:1 support?
We recognize that every child has different needs. If your child requires more individualized support, we will work with you to determine the most appropriate service option.
For some children, this may include:
  • Insurance-based ABA services with more individualized support
  • A gradual transition into a small group setting
  • Additional supports within a group, when appropriate
Our goal is to ensure each child is set up for success in an environment where they can safely participate, engage, and make meaningful progress.
What if my class falls on a holiday?
Classes will be moved to the following day (example: Memorial day classes will be held on Tuesday May 26)
