What is a sleep consultant, and how can you help?
A sleep consultant helps families establish healthy sleep habits for their children. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), I use evidence-based strategies rooted in behavior science to create personalized sleep plans tailored to your child’s needs.
What ages do you work with?
Children ages 2 and above can benefit from Pieces Sleep Consulting Services. Sleep consulting is generally more effective for children 2 years and older because sleep-wake cycles are more established, they are less dependent on night feedings, and sleep habits are more ingrained, making targeted interventions more impactful.
How is a BCBA approach different from other sleep consultants?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst is a trained behavior analyst who holds a masters degree in behavior therapy and has passed the national BCBA board certification examination. A BCBA conducts behavioral assessments and provides behavior analytic interpretations of the results. Additionally, a BCBA designs and supervises your child's treatment plan.
BCBAs specialize in analyzing behavior patterns and using data-driven methods to improve sleep. This approach is individualized, compassionate, and backed by science, ensuring long-term success while considering your child’s unique needs. What sleep problems do you address?
BCBA sleep consultants can work with your child to develop healthy sleep habits after medical issues have been ruled out by your doctor. Pieces can help with frequent night wakings, difficulty falling asleep, early morning wakings, nap transitions, bedtime resistance, sleep regressions, and program behaviors surrounding bedtime.
Do you use cry-it-out?
At Pieces we understand that many parents are concerned about sleep training methods that involve crying. While some sleep training approaches involve periods of crying, I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach.
As a BCBA, my goal is to use evidence-based strategies that align with your child’s needs and your family's comfort level. I offer a range of sleep training methods, from gentle, responsive approaches (such as gradual fading and parental presence) to structured techniques that promote independent sleep. I will work with you to find a method that ensures your child learns to sleep independently while maintaining a secure and supportive environment. My approach focuses on teaching positive sleep habits in a way that respects your child’s developmental stage and emotional well-being. Can you help children with autism or developmental delays?
Yes! As a BCBA, I have extensive experience working with neurodiverse children and can create individualized sleep plans tailored to their specific needs.
